Anthony Miccio, pop culture records custodian extraordinaire, reminded me of the “Voices That Care” music video made for Gulf War soldiers back in 1991, and holy crapz, is it ah-may-zing. I’m not even sure where to begin: Bobby Brown’s leather top hat, Will Smith rapping, Nelson just bein’ Nelson, Meryl Streep’s flowbie cut… I mean what’s better than Joanna Kerns, Jon Lovitz, Don King and Fred Savage all swaying side by side, rocking out and feeling great about themselves? [Answer: nothing, of course.]
Oddly enough all the words came right back to me, so this must have been played a lot on Kiss 108 back in the day. Anthony says it premiered right after The Simpsons, which would mean I definitely saw it, but the only post-Simpsons premiere I remember is Michael Jackson 72 hour “Black or White” video. Anyway, enjoy.
